Fiji tops standings after Rugby Sevens return to Singapore

Fiji climbed to the top of the men’s HSBC SVNS standings after winning the Singapore Sevens, completing a second-half comeback to beat France in the final. The tournament brought elite rugby sevens back to Singapore’s National Stadium for a two-day stop on the 2025–26 circuit.
Rugby sevens lights up the National Stadium again
Singapore hosted the SVNS Singapore leg on January 31 and February 1, 2026. The organisers staged matches at the National Stadium, part of the Kallang precinct.
Crowds responded. World Rugby said 40,000 fans attended across the weekend, underlining Singapore’s pull as a regional sevens venue.
Fiji tops standings after Singapore’s dramatic final
France led 12-0 at half-time in the men’s final. Fiji then scored 21 unanswered points to win 21-12.
Viwa Naduvalo sparked the turnaround. Kavekini Tanivanuakula and Pilipo Bukayaro also crossed as Fiji flipped the match after the break.
That result pushed Fiji to first in the men’s standings on 52 points. New Zealand sit second on 48, while South Africa and France share 46, according to RNZ.
How the weekend reshaped the chase pack
New Zealand claimed bronze with a 14-12 win over South Africa in the third-place match. As a result, the All Blacks Sevens stayed within striking distance in the title race.
Australia finished fifth in Singapore. Meanwhile, France took the bigger prize of a finals appearance, even as Fiji denied them at the last step.
Singapore’s stop keeps the series moving
Singapore marked the third tournament of the 2025–26 HSBC SVNS season, after Dubai and Cape Town. Before Singapore, three teams shared first on 32 points, showing how tight the series has been.
Next, the circuit heads to Perth. Fiji will arrive as the team to catch, with momentum restored and the standings now in their favour.
