A brutal acid attack on Indonesian human rights activist Andrie Yunus has become far more than a criminal case. It has turned into an early test of how seriously the Prabowo administration and law enforcement will respond to violence against critics, at a time when warnings about shrinking civic space in Indonesia are growing louder. Andrie, deputy coordinator of KontraS, was attacked in Central Jakarta on the night of March 12 after recording a podcast on the military\u2019s expanding role in civilian affairs, according to Reuters and rights groups. Reuters reported that he was hospitalised after burns to 24 per cent of his face and arms, while local reporting cited burns over 20 per cent of his body.
