A 15-year-old male student pleaded not guilty at the High Court in Shah Alam on Feb 12 to a charge of murdering a 16-year-old female student in a stabbing incident at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The proceedings were held behind closed doors because the accused is a juvenile. Only the teenager\u2019s family and parties involved were allowed in the courtroom, according to Malay-language daily Sinar Harian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plea was recorded after the charge was read out again in Mandarin before Justice Adlin Abdul Majid. The boy was a Form One transitional class student at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the charge, the teenager is accused of killing the victim in the girls\u2019 toilet at a national secondary school in Bandar Utama between 9.20am and 9.35am on Oct 14, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case has drawn public attention in Malaysia because it occurred on school grounds during the morning session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The charge was brought under Section 302 of Malaysia\u2019s Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty or, if the accused is not sentenced to death, imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years and whipping of up to 12 strokes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The prosecution is led by deputy public prosecutors Aqharie Durranie Aziz and Zamariah Zarifah Aris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The teenager\u2019s lawyer, Kitson Foong, told reporters outside court that the not guilty plea was recorded after the charge was read again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In earlier proceedings, the teenager was charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate\u2019s Court in October 2025, where no plea was recorded because murder cases fall under the High Court\u2019s jurisdiction. A psychiatric report presented in January confirmed the accused was fit to stand trial, according to local media reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The case remains before the High Court in Shah Alam, with further dates to be fixed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
